Meet some of Fast Forward Future’s former scholarship recipients!
By being a scholarship winner, Paul was able to demonstrate his dedication and passion to his colleagues and employers. Since 2015, he has seen additional responsibilities, benefits, and mobility within his place of work.
One of the most important things he has learned in the industry is the difference between service and hospitality, something he encourages other passionate individuals to focus on. “Service is, of course, important, but if you can master hospitality, your guest retention will take care of itself – and you’ll make a lot of friends along the way!”
Wendy’s scholarship enabled her to fuel her enthusiasm for learning. Through continued training at the San Francisco Wine School and classes at the Guild of Sommeliers, her network reach is far, and new opportunities continue to present themselves.
As she learns and absorbs wisdom from the food and beverage industry, Wendy stresses the crucial aspect of sharing that passion with new enthusiasts. “As we grow in this industry, the most important thing to remember is to share the knowledge you gain with others.”
As a Certified Executive Chef through the American Culinary Federation, Adam stresses the importance of education, a goal he has been pursue after receiving the 2015 Scholarship. “Education is the foundation you can build your hospitality career on,” and he encourages future applications to “take pride in how hard it is to reach your goals.”
This year, Rafael was accepted into the Advanced Sommelier course with the Court of Master Sommeliers. His scholarship was applied to this crucial step in advancing to the Advanced Somm title.
His advice to applicants? “Make sure to use it towards something that will benefit you and others!”
